Hadith 2817

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يُخْرِجُ الْعَوَاتِقَ ، وَذَوَاتِ الْخُدُورِ ، وَالْحُيَّضَ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ ، فَأَمَّا الْحُيَّضُ ، فَيَعْتَزِلْنَ الْمُصَلَّى ، وَيَشْهَدْنَ الْخَيْرَ وَدَعْوَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَقَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ : فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لإِحْدَانَا جِلْبَابٌ ؟ قَالَ : " لِتُعِرْهَا جِلْبَابِهَا " .
Sayyidah Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: On the day of Eid, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to take young unmarried girls, women observing purdah, and even menstruating women (to the Eid ground). As for the menstruating women, they would stay away from the prayer but would participate in goodness and the supplications of the Muslims. A woman asked: If one of us does not have a cloak, then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Another woman should give her cloak.
