Hadith 2703

أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا سَافَرْتُمْ فِي الْخِصْبِ فَأَعْطُوا الإِبِلَ حَقَّهَا ، وَإِذَا سَافَرْتُمْ فِي السَّنَةِ فَأَسْرِعُوا السَّيْرَ عَلَيْهَا ، وَإِذَا عَرَّسْتُمْ فَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّرِيقَ ، فَإِنَّهَا مَأْوَى الْهَوَامِّ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you travel during times of abundance, give the camel its due (i.e., allow it to graze), and when you travel during times of drought, travel quickly. And when you camp at night, avoid camping on the road, for it is the dwelling place of the creatures of the earth."
