Hadith 2697

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نَوْفَلٍ عَلِيُّ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ السَّبِيعِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الأَسَدِيِّ ، قَالَ : رَكِبَ عَلِيٌّ دَابَّةً ، فَقَالَ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ " ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَى عَلَيْهَا ، قَالَ : " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَكْرَمَنَا ، وَحَمَلَنَا فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ ، وَرَزَقَنَا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ ، وَفَضَّلَنَا عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَهُ تَفْضِيلا : سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ سورة الزخرف آية 14 - 14 " ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ ثَلاثًا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ، إِنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ غَيْرُكَ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَ هَذَا ، وَأَنَا رِدْفُهُ .
Ali bin Rabi’ah Asadi narrates: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) mounted his ride, and he recited “Bismillah.” When he sat firmly upon it, he recited: “All praise is due to Allah, Who has honored us, enabled us to travel on land and sea, provided us with pure sustenance, and granted us superiority over many of His creation. Glory be to the One Who has subjected this (mount) to us, for we could not have subdued it (by ourselves). Surely, to our Lord we shall return.” Then he said “Allahu Akbar” three times, then said: “O Allah! Forgive me, for surely none forgives sins except You.” Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did the same, and at that time I was riding behind him.
