Hadith 2693

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّغَوْلِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ الرَّازِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَائِذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُطْعِمُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ إِلَى الْعِرَاقِ أَنَا وَرَجُلٌ مَعِي ، فَشَيَّعَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُفَارِقَنَا ، قَالَ : إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مَعِي شَيْءٌ أُعْطِيكُمَا ، وَلَكِنْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِذَا اسْتَوْدَعَ اللَّهُ شَيْئًا حَفِظَهُ ، وَإِنِّي أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِينَكُمَا وَأَمَانَتَكُمَا ، وَخَوَاتِيمَ عَمَلِكُمَا " .
Mujahid narrates: I was about to depart for Iraq, and there was another person with me. Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came with us to see us off. When he was about to part from us, he said: I have nothing with me to give you, but I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this: "When a person entrusts something to Allah Almighty, Allah protects it. So I entrust your religion, your trust, and the end of your deeds to Allah Almighty."
