Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him), who was an ally of Banu Abd al-Muttalib, narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up after performing two rak‘ahs in the Zuhr prayer, when he was supposed to sit. When he completed the prayer and was sitting, before saying the salam, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajda sahw). The people also performed the prostrations along with him. These were in compensation for the sitting that he had forgotten.
