أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ الأَزْرَقِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَصْرَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ بَيْتِي فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، صَلَّيْتَ صَلاةً لَمْ تَكُنْ تُصَلِّيهَا ، فَقَالَ : " قَدِمَ عَلَيَّ مَالٌ ، فَشَغَلَنِي عَنْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ كُنْتُ أَرْكَعُهُمَا قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ ، فَصَلَّيْتُهُمَا الآنَ " ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَنَقْضِيهِمَا إِذَا فَاتَتْنَا ؟ قَالَ : " لا " .
Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me after performing the ‘Asr prayer. He performed two rak‘ahs. I asked: Today you performed such a prayer which you have not performed before. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Some wealth had come to me, so due to being occupied, I was not able to perform these two rak‘ahs before ‘Asr as I used to do previously, so I have performed them now. I asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), if these rak‘ahs are missed by us, should we make them up? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No.
