It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said regarding this verse: (The command of Allah, the Exalted, is) "Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due." The verse continues up to: "Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing." (Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates) I saw the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he placed his thumb on his ear and his finger, with which he gestures during prayer, on his eye. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The meaning of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, placing his finger on his ears and his eyes is: to clarify to the people that Allah, the Exalted, does not hear by means of an ear that has a hole and a curve, nor does He see with the help of an eye that has pupils, eyeballs, and whiteness. Our Lord is far above and exalted from being likened to anything from His creation; rather, He hears and sees without any instrument, as He wills.
