Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: One night, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed prayer in the mosque. Some people performed prayer following his example. The next night, when he performed prayer, the number of people increased. On the third or fourth night, many people gathered, but the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not come to them. In the morning, he said: I saw what you did (that is, that you came to perform prayer), but I did not come to you because I feared that it would be made obligatory upon you. (The narrator says) This happened in the month of Ramadan.
