Abdullah bin Shaqiq reports: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the prayer of the Prophet (peace be upon him): She informed me: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to perform four rak‘ahs before Zuhr, two rak‘ahs after Maghrib, and two rak‘ahs after ‘Isha. At night, he used to offer prayer. I asked: Did he perform it standing or sitting? She replied: At night, he used to offer long prayers sitting, and he also used to offer long prayers standing. I asked: When he prayed standing, what did he do, and when he prayed sitting, then what did he do? She replied: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited while standing, he would also go into ruku‘ standing, and when he recited while sitting, he would also perform ruku‘ sitting.
