Hadith 2473

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: " حَفِظْتُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَهَا ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ ، وَرَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ " . قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : وَأَخْبَرَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَرْكَعُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ ، وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَمَا يَطْلُعُ الْفَجْرُ " .
Salim narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) that I remember this about the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): he used to perform two rak‘ahs before Zuhr, two rak‘ahs after it, two rak‘ahs after Maghrib, and two rak‘ahs after ‘Isha. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar narrates: Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me of this, that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also used to perform two rak‘ahs (Sunnah) before Fajr, and he would perform them after the true dawn had appeared.
