Hadith 2450

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ ذَرٍّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْوِتْرِ بِ : سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى وَ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ، وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ، فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ قَالَ : " سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ " ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ .
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-A'la, Surah Al-Kafiroon, and Surah Al-Ikhlas in the Witr prayer. When he would finish with salam, he would recite «سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوس» (Glory is to the One Who is the Sovereign and free from all defects) three times.
