Sulaiman bin Yasar narrates: He saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sitting in the courtyard while people were performing prayer at that time. I asked: Why are you sitting while people are performing prayer? He replied: I have already performed the prayer, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade us from performing any prayer twice in one day. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Amr bin Shu'aib himself is trustworthy; his narrations will be used as evidence when he narrates from someone other than his father. As for those narrations which he reports from his father from his grandfather, there is discontinuity and mursal (broken chain) found in them; for this reason, we do not use such narrations as evidence.
