Abdullah bin Samit narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A donkey, a woman, and a black dog (if they pass in front of a person praying) break his prayer." The narrator states: I asked, "Why a black dog? Why not a red, yellow, or white one?" He replied: "O my nephew, I also asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) the same question, and he said: 'The black dog is a devil.'"
