Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A donkey, a black dog, and a woman cut off a man's prayer (if they pass in front of him) when there is nothing like the rear end of a saddle (placed as a barrier) in front of him." The narrator states: I asked (Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari, may Allah be pleased with him): Why a black dog? Why not a red or yellow one? He replied: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the same question that you have asked me, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The black (dog) is a devil.
