Abdullah bin Samit narrates this statement of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him): When a person is praying and there is nothing in front of him (as a sutrah) equal to the back part of a saddle, then a woman, a donkey, and a black dog (if they pass in front of the praying person) break his prayer. The narrator says: I asked, O Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), what is the matter with the black dog? Why not the white or the red one? He replied: O my nephew! I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the same question that you have asked me, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The black dog is a devil."
