Abdullah bin Samit narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) about that which breaks the prayer. He said: If there is nothing in front of you like the back part of a saddle, then a woman, a donkey, and a black dog (passing in front of the praying person) break the prayer. I said: What is special about the black dog, why not a yellow or white one? He said: O my nephew! I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the same question that you have asked me, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The black dog is a devil." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says: "Azramah" is one of the villages of Nasibin.)
