Hadith 2365

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ الْحَنَفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمِّي عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَوْهَبٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ يَعْلَمُ أَحَدُكُمْ مَا لَهُ فِي أَنْ يَمْشِيَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ أَخِيهِ مُعْتَرِضًا وَهُوَ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ ، لَكَانَ أَنْ يَقِفَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَقَامِ مِائَةَ عَامٍ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْخُطْوَةِ الَّتِي خَطَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a person were to know how much sin there is in passing in front of his brother while he is supplicating to his Lord (i.e., performing prayer), then it would be more beloved to him to stand in that place for one hundred years than to take a single step (and pass in front of his brother)."
