Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about performing prayer in a single garment, so he said: Does each one of you have two garments? When the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came, he said: Now that Allah Almighty has granted abundance, you should adopt this abundance. A man should gather his clothes (i.e., wear two different types of garments). A man may perform prayer in an izar and a sheet, or in an izar and a shirt, or in an izar and a cloak, or in trousers and a cloak, or in trousers and a shirt, or in trousers and a cloak. The narrator named Hisham says: I think these words are also in the narration: (perform prayer) in pajamas.
