Hadith 2301

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُدَامَةَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رِجَالٌ يُصَلُّونَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَاقِدِي أُزُرِهِمْ عَلَى أَعْنَاقِهِمْ كَهَيْئَةِ الصِّبْيَانِ ، فَيُقَالُ لِلنِّسَاءِ : " لا تَرْفَعْنَ رُؤُوسَكُنَّ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ الرِّجَالُ " .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: People used to perform prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They would tie their lower garments around their necks like children. So the women were instructed: Do not raise your heads (from prostration) until the men have sat up straight.
