Hadith 2084

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَكَانَتْ لَيْلَةٌ ظَلْمَاءُ ، أَوْ لَيْلَةٌ مَطِيرَةٌ ، أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ نَادَى مُنَادِيهُ : " أَنْ صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When we were traveling with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the night was extremely dark, or it would rain at night, then the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) mu’adhdhin would make this announcement (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words): The announcer on behalf of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would make this announcement: “Perform the prayer at your place of residence.”
