أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ ، عَنِ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ ، فَبَكَيْتُ ، فَقَالَ لِي : مَهْ ، لِمَ تَبْكِي ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ لَئِنَ اسْتُشْهِدْتُ لأَشْهَدَنَّ لَكَ ، وَلَئِنْ شُفِّعْتَ لأَشْفَعَنَّ لَكَ ، وَلَئِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُ لأَنْفَعَنَّكَ ، ثُمّ قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ مَا مِنْ حَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَكُمْ فِيهِ خَيْرٌ إِلا حَدَّثْتُكُمُوهُ ، إِلا حَدِيثًا وَاحِدًا وَسَوْفَ أُحَدِّثَكُمُوهُ الْيَوْمَ ، وَقَدْ أُحِيطَ بِنَفْسِي ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ حَرَّمَهُ الِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّارِ " .
Sanabahi narrates: I went to visit Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was near death. I began to weep, so he said to me: Stop, why are you crying? By Allah! If I am asked to bear witness, I will surely bear witness about you, and if I am given the opportunity for intercession, I will intercede for you, and if I am able, I will benefit you. Then he said this: By Allah! Whatever hadith I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in which there was goodness for you, I have conveyed it to you. Only one hadith I have not narrated, and today I will narrate it to you, because now my last moment is near. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever testifies that there is no deity except Allah, and indeed Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, Allah will make the Fire of Hell forbidden for him."
