Hadith 196

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زُهِيَرٍ الْحَافِظُ بِتُسْتُرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، وَرَبِّ هَذِهِ الْبَنِيَّةِ يَعْنِي الْكَعْبَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " الْمُهَاجِرُ مَنْ هَجَرَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ، وَالْمُسْلِمُ مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ " .
Imam Sha'bi narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: By the Lord of this building. (He said this regarding the Ka'bah) I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The emigrant is the one who separates himself from sins. A Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims remain safe."
