أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ ، وَمَوْهَبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ دَرَّاجًا أَبَا السَّمْحِ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا حَلِيمَ إِلا ذُو عَثْرَةٍ ، وَلا حَكِيمَ إِلا ذُو تَجْرِبَةٍ " قَالَ مَوْهَبٌ : قَالَ لِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ : أَيْشٍ كَتَبْتَ بِالشَّامِ ؟ فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ، قَالَ : لَوْ لَمْ تَسْمَعْ إِلا هَذَا لَمْ تَذْهَبْ رِحْلَتُكَ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one becomes forbearing without making mistakes, and no one becomes wise without experience." Wahib says: Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal said to me: "Have you recorded any hadiths in Syria?" I mentioned this narration to him, so he said: "If you heard only this narration from there, then your journey was not wasted."
