Hadith 1826

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا لِخَبَّابٍ : هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " . قُلْنَا : بِمَ كُنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : " بِاضْطِرَابِ لِحْيَتِهِ " .
Abu Ma'mar narrates: We asked Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recite (Qur'an) in the Zuhr and Asr prayers? He replied: Yes. We asked: How did you come to know this? He replied: Because of the movement of the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) beard.
