Hadith 1823

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلاتِكُمْ ، كَانَ يُخَفِّفُ الصَّلاةَ ، وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلاةِ الْفَجْرِ بِالْوَاقِعَةِ وَنَحْوِهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform prayer like your prayer. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform a brief prayer. He, peace and blessings be upon him, would recite Surah Waqi’ah and similar surahs in the Fajr prayer.
