أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ السَّكْسَكِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي لا أُحْسِنُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْئًا ، فَعَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا يُجْزِئُنِي مِنْهُ . فَقَالَ : " قُلْ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ، وَلا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ " . قَالَ : هَذَا لِرَبِّي ، فَمَا لِي ؟ قَالَ : " قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ، وَارْحَمْنِي ، وَارْزُقْنِي ، وَعَافِنِي " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I cannot recite the Qur'an properly, so teach me something that will suffice for me in its place. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite this. «سبحان الله والحمدللہ واللہ اکبر». The man said: This is for my Lord (as praise for Him), what will be for me? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite this: "O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me sustenance, and grant me well-being."
