أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، بِوَاسِطٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حِبَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ ، عَنِ الْمُخْدَجِيِّ وَهُوَ أَبُو رُفَيْعٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ : يَا أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ ، إِنَّ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ كَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ، يَزْعُمُ أَنَّ الْوِتْرَ حَقٌّ . قَالَ : كَذَبَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ جَاءَ بِالصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ قَدْ أَكْمَلَهُنَّ ، لَمْ يَنْقُصْ مِنْ حَقِّهِنَّ شَيْئًا ، كَانَ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَهْدٌ أَنْ لا يُعَذِّبَهُ ، وَمَنْ جَاءَ بِهِنَّ وَقَدِ انْتَقَصَ مِنْ حَقِّهِنَّ شَيْئًا ، فَلَيْسَ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَهْدٌ ، إِنْ شَاءَ رَحِمَهُ ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ هَذَا : اسْمُهُ مَسْعُودُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ سُبَيْعٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، مِنْ بَنِي دِينَارِ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ ، لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ، سَكَنَ الشَّامَ .
Abu Rafi’ narrates: He said to Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him): O Abu Walid! There was a man from the Ansar named Abu Muhammad, who was a companion, and he holds the opinion that Witr is obligatory. Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit said: Abu Muhammad has said this incorrectly; I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Whoever performs the five prayers and completes them, not neglecting any of their due rights, then for such a person there is a covenant with Allah that He will not punish him. And whoever performs them but neglects something from their due rights, then for such a person there is no covenant with Allah. If He wills, He will have mercy on him, and if He wills, He will punish him. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says: The narrator named Abu Muhammad is Mas’ud bin Zayd bin Sabi’ al-Ansari, he belonged to Banu Dinar bin Najjar, he was a companion, and he resided in Syria.)
