أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُدَيْدٍ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، وَقَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفِيانُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلَّهَا يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ بِوَضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفِيهِ " ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : إِنِّي رَأَيْتُكَ الْيَوْمَ صَنَعْتَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَصْنَعُهُ قَبْلَ الْيَوْمِ ، قَالَ : " عَمْدًا فَعَلْتُ يَا عُمَرُ " .
Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrates from his father: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed all the prayers on the day of the conquest of Makkah with a single ablution. While performing ablution, he wiped over his socks. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: Today I have seen you do something which you have not done before today. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: O Umar! I have done this deliberately.
