Hadith 1670

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ أُنَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْمُؤَذِّنُونَ أَطْوَلُ النَّاسِ أَعْنَاقًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الْعَرَبُ تَصِفُ بَاذِلَ الشَّيْءِ الْكَثِيرِ بِطُولِ الْيَدِ ، وَمُتَأَمِّلَ الشَّيْءَ الْكَثِيرَ بِطُولِ الْعُنُقِ ، فَقَوْلُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُؤَذِّنُونَ أَطْوَلُ النَّاسِ أَعْنَاقًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُرِيدُ أَطْوَلُهُمْ أَعْنَاقًا لِتَأَمُّلِ الثَّوَابِ " كَمَا قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِنِسَائِهِ : " أَسْرَعُكُنَّ بِي لُحُوقًا أَطْوَلُكُنَّ يَدًا " ، فَكَانَتْ سَوْدَةُ أَوَّلُ نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَحِقَتْ بِهِ ، وَكَانَتْ أَكْثَرُهُنَّ صَدَقَةً ، وَلَيْسَ يُرِيدُ بِقَوْلِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا ، أَنَّ الْمْؤَذِّنِينَ هُمْ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ تَأَمُّلا لِلثَّوَابِ فِي الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَهَذَا مِمَّا نَقُولُ فِي كُتُبِنَا : إِنَّ الْعَرَبَ تَذْكُرُ الشَّيْءَ فِي لُغَتِهَا بِذِكْرِ الْحَذْفِ عَنْهُ مَا عَلَيْهِ مُعَوِّلُهُ ، فَأَرَادَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَوْلِهِ : أَطْوَلُ النَّاسِ أَعْنَاقًا ، أَيْ : مِنْ أَطْوَلِ النَّاسِ أَعْنَاقًا ، فَحَذَفَ مِنْ مِنَ الْخَبَرِ كَمَا قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْكِي عَنِ اللَّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلا : " أَحَبُّ عِبَادِي إِلَيَّ أَعْجَلُهُمْ فِطْرًا " ، أَيْ : مِنْ أَقْوَامٍ أُحِبُّهُمْ وَهَؤُلاءِ مِنْهُمْ ، وَهَذَا بَابٌ طَوِيلٌ سَنَذْكُرُهُ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ مِنْ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ فِي الْقِسْمِ الثَّالِثِ مِنْ أَقْسَامِ السُّنَنِ إِنْ قَضَى اللَّهُ ذَلِكَ وَشَاءَهُ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "On the Day of Resurrection, the necks of the mu’adhdhins (callers to prayer) will be the longest." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says: The Arabs liken one who spends more to having a long hand, and one who has greater hope for something to having a long neck. The statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that on the Day of Resurrection those who give the adhan will have long necks means that they will have greater hope for reward. Similarly, the statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to his wives: "The one among you who will meet me the soonest is the one whose hand is the longest among you," so Sayyidah Sawdah bint Zam’ah, may Allah be pleased with her, was the first among the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to meet him because she used to give the most charity. It is never meant by one statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that only those who give the adhan will have greater hope for reward on the Day of Resurrection. This is among those expressions about which we have already explained in our books that the Arabs, in their idioms, mention something and omit the word upon which its meaning is based. The statement of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that they will be the people with the longest necks among the people, means that they will be among those with long necks. Here, the word "min" (among) is omitted, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, narrated this statement of Allah Almighty: "Among My servants, the most beloved to Me are those who hasten to break the fast." This means those people whom I love, they are among them. This is a lengthy topic which we will mention in its specific place in this book, which will be in the third category among the types of Sunnah, if Allah Almighty decrees and wills.
