Hadith 1664

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، بِالْمَوْصِلِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفِيانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ النِّدَاءَ بِالصَّلاةِ ، ذَهَبَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ مَكَانُ الرَّوْحَاءِ " ، قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ : فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّوْحَاءِ ، فَقَالَ : " هِيَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى سَبْعَةٍ وَثَلاثِينَ مِيلا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: When Satan hears the call to prayer (adhan), he goes away until he reaches "Ruhā’." The narrator named Sulaiman says: I asked my teacher about "Ruhā’," and he replied: It is at a distance of 37 miles from Madinah Munawwarah.
