Hadith 1656

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : " كُنْتُ أَبِيتُ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكُنْتُ فَتًى شَابًّا عَزَبًا ، وَكَانَتِ الْكِلابُ تَبُولُ وَتُقْبِلُ وَتُدْبِرُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَرُشُّونَ شَيْئًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : قَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَكَانَتِ الْكِلابُ تَبُولُ يُرِيدُ بِهِ خَارِجًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَتُقْبِلُ وَتُدْبِرُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَرُشُّونَ بِمُرُورِهَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ شَيْئًا .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to spend the night in the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I was a young, unmarried man. Dogs used to come and go in the mosque and urinate, and nothing was sprinkled over their urine. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that dogs used to urinate means that they did so outside the mosque and then would come and go in the mosque, but due to their coming and going, no water was sprinkled in the mosque.
