Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, those people set out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to combine the Zuhr and Asr prayers, as well as the Maghrib and Isha prayers. The narrator states: One day, he delayed the prayer, then he came out and performed the Zuhr and Asr prayers together. Then he went inside, then he came out again and performed the Maghrib and Isha prayers together. Then he said: "Tomorrow you will reach the spring of Tabuk, if Allah wills. You will reach it when the day has risen. Whoever reaches there should not touch its water before I arrive." The narrator states: We reached there, and two people had already arrived before us. The spring was like a strap, from which drops of water were trickling. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked both of them: "Did you touch its water?" They replied: "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed displeasure with them and said to them whatever Allah willed. Then the people took a little water from the spring in their hands until it was collected in something. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face and both hands with that water, then poured that water back into the spring. Then a great amount of water gushed forth from the spring. The people took water from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Mu'adh! If you live long, soon a time will come when you will see that there will be gardens all around here, which will be irrigated by this spring."
