أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، وَأَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطُّفِيلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " جَمَعَ فِي سَفْرَةٍ سَافَرَهَا ، وَذَلِكَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ " ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : فَمَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : أَرَادَ أَنْ لا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) combined the prayers during a journey. This journey was during a military expedition. He combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers. The narrator says: I asked, "Why did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do this?" So Sayyiduna Mu'adh replied: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted that he should not put his Ummah in difficulty.
