باب مواقيت الصلاة - ذكر الخبر الدال على أن تلك الصلاة التي ذكرناها قد أخرها صلى الله عليه وسلم بعد تلك المدةChapter on Prayer Times - Report indicating that the Prophet delayed that prayer beyond its usual time.
Hadith 1537

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمْةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : هَلْ كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمٌ؟ فَقَالَ: أَخَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلاةَ الْعِشَاءِ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ ، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ صَلُّوا ، وَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَزَالُوا فِي الصَّلاةِ مَا انْتَظَرْتُمُ الصَّلاةَ " . قَالَ أَنَسٌ : " فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَبِيصِ خَاتَمِهِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ، قَالَ: وَرَفَعَ أَنَسٌ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى " .
Thabit narrates: People asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) have a ring? He replied: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the ‘Isha prayer at night, until half the night had passed, then he came out and said: The people have already performed the prayer, and you have been counted as being in prayer since you were waiting for it. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The shine of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) silver ring is as if I can still see it before my eyes today. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) raised his left hand and said this.
