Hadith 1518

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الْحَنَفِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ وَالشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءُ حَيَّةٌ ، ثُمَّ يَذْهَبُ الذَّاهِبُ إِلَى الْعَوَالِي فِيأْتِيهَا وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would perform the Asr prayer while the sun was still bright and shining. Then a person would go to a nearby area and reach there, and the sun would still be high.
