Hadith 1487

أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمْةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنْ صَلاةٍ رَكْعَةً ، فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ " ، قَالُوا : مِنْ هُنَا قِيلَ : وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ رَكْعَةً صَلَّى إِلَيْهَا أُخْرَى .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever catches one rak'ah of the prayer has caught the (whole) prayer." People say this, and on this basis it is said that whoever catches one rak'ah of the Friday prayer will perform the second rak'ah with it.
