Hadith 1408

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّضْرَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَهَا أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ ، وَالْخَبَائِثِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : الْخُبُثُ جَمْعُ الذُّكُورِ مِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ ، وَالْخَبَائِثُ جَمْعُ الإِنَاثِ مِنْهُمْ ، يُقَالُ خَبِيثٌ وَخَبِيثَانِ ، وَخُبُثٌ وَخَبِيثَةٌ ، وَخَبِيثَتَانِ وَخَبَائِثُ " .
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Devils come to the place of relieving oneself, so when a person goes there, he should recite this: O Allah! I seek refuge with You from male devils and female devils." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Khubth is the plural of male devils and Khaba’ith is the plural of female devils.
