Hadith 1393

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْفَأْرَةِ تَقَعُ فِي السَّمْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَ جَامِدًا فَأَلْقُوهَا وَمَا حَوْلَهَا ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مَائِعًا فَلا تَقْرَبُوهُ " ، يَعْنِي ذَائِبًا .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about a mouse that had fallen into clarified butter (ghee). He said: If the ghee was solid, then throw away the mouse and the ghee around it, and if it was liquid, then do not go near it. (The narrator says) that is, if it was melted.
