Hadith 1392

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفِيانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْفَأْرَةِ تَمُوتُ فِي السَّمْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَ جَامِدًا فَأَلْقُوهَا وَمَا حَوْلَهَا وَكُلُوهُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ ذَائِبًا فَلا تَقْرَبُوهُ " .
Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked about a mouse that dies in clarified butter (ghee). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If the ghee was solid, then throw away the mouse and the ghee around it, and eat the remaining ghee. But if the ghee was melted, then do not use it.
