Hadith 1389

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غَسَّانُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمْةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ بِأَرْضِنَا أَعْنَابًا نَعْتَصِرُهَا ، وَنَشْرَبُ مِنْهَا ، قَالَ : " لا تَشْرَبْ " ، قُلْتُ : أَفَنَشْفِي بِهَا الْمَرْضَى ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ دَاءٌ ، وَلَيْسَ بِشِفَاءٍ " .
Sayyiduna Tariq bin Suwayd Hazrami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! There are grapes in our area. We squeeze them and drink it." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not drink it." I submitted, "Can we use it as medicine for our sick?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is a disease, not a cure."
