أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمْ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتَ مِحْصَنٍ الأَسَدِيَّةَ ، أُخْتُ عُكَّاشَةَ بْنِ مِحْصَنٍ ، وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الَّتِي بَايَعَهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : " جِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِابْنٍ لِي لَمْ يَأْكُلِ الطَّعَامَ ، فَأَخَذَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَجْلَسَهُ فِي حِجْرِهِ ، فَبَالَ عَلَى ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَاءً ، فَنَضَحَهُ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ " . قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : " فَمَضَتِ السُّنَّةُ بِأَنْ لا يُغْسَلَ مِنْ بَوْلِ الصَّبِيِّ حَتَّى يَأْكُلَ الطَّعَامَ ، فَإِذَا أَكَلَ الطَّعَامَ غُسِلَ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ " .
Sayyida Umm Qais bint Mihsan Asadiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), who is the sister of Sayyiduna ‘Ukkasha bin Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with him) and one of those Muhajir women who pledged allegiance at the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: I brought my child to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who did not eat anything yet. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took him and seated him in his lap. The child urinated on the clothes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took water and sprinkled it on that spot. He did not wash it. Ibn Shihab says: After this, it became customary that the urine of a child is not washed until he is able to eat something. When he starts eating, then his urine is to be washed.
