Hammam bin Harith narrates that Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) wiped over his socks while performing ablution after urinating. He was asked about this: Do you do this? He replied: Why should I not do it? I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) doing it. Ibrahim Nakha'i says that people liked this narration transmitted by Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) very much, because he had accepted Islam after Surah Al-Ma'idah was revealed (and in Surah Al-Ma'idah, washing the feet during ablution is commanded).
