Hadith 1317

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الطَّائِيُّ ، بِمَنْبِجَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ ، حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالْبَيْدَاءِ أَوْ بِذَاتِ الْجَيْشِ ، انْقَطَعَ عِقْدٌ لِي ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْتِمَاسِهِ ، وَأَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ ، وَلَيْسَ هُمْ عَلَى مَاءٍ وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُمْ مَاءٌ ، فَجَاءَ أُنَاسٌ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ ، فَقَالُوا : أَلا تَرَى مَا صَنَعَتْ عَائِشَةُ ؟ أَقَامَتْ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبِالنَّاسِ ، وَلَيْسُوا عَلَى مَاءٍ ، وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُمْ مَاءٌ ، فَعَاتَبَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَقَالَ : مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ ، وَجَعَلَ يَطْعُنُ بِيَدِهِ فِي خَاصِرَتِي ، فَلا يَمْنَعُنِي مِنَ التَّحَرُّكِ إِلا مَكَانُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَاءٍ ، " فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ آيَةَ التَّيَمُّمِ فَتَيَمَّمُوا " . قَالَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ وَهُوَ أَحَدُ النُّقَبَاءِ : مَا هَذَا بِأَوَّلِ بَرَكَتِكُمْ يَا آلَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَبَعَثْنَا الْبَعِيرَ الَّذِي كُنْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَوَجَدْنَا الْعِقْدَ تَحْتَهُ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We were accompanying the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on a journey. When we reached the place of "Baida" or perhaps "Dhat al-Jaish," my necklace fell. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) halted there to search for the necklace. The people also stayed there with him. There was no water nearby, nor did the people have any water with them. Some people came to Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Have you seen what Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) has done? She has compelled the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the people to stop here, even though there is no water nearby, and the people do not have any water either. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) expressed his displeasure (towards Lady Aisha) and said what Allah willed. He kept striking his hand on my side, but I did not move because the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sleeping with his head in my lap. Then, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) woke up, it was morning and there was no water. So Allah Almighty revealed the verse regarding the command of tayammum (dry ablution), and the people performed tayammum. Upon this, Usaid bin Hudair, who was one of the leaders, said: O family of Abu Bakr, this is not your first blessing. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The camel I was riding, when we made it stand up, we found the necklace underneath it.
