Hadith 1300

Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We went on a journey with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). When we reached the place of "Baidā’" (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or "Dhat al-Jaish," my necklace fell. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stayed there to search for it. The people with him also stayed. There was no water nearby, and the people did not have any water either. Some people came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Have you seen what Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) has done? She has forced the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and those with him to stop, even though there is no water nearby, and the people do not have any water. So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) at that time when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sleeping with his head on my lap. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You have forced the Messenger of Allah and the people to stop, even though there is no water nearby, and the people do not have any water. (Lady Aisha [may Allah be pleased with her] narrates) Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) expressed his displeasure with me and said what Allah willed. He kept striking my side with his hand, but I did not move because the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was resting his head on my lap. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) continued to sleep until morning came, then Allah Almighty revealed the verse regarding tayammum, so the people performed tayammum. At that time, Usaid bin Hudair, who was one of the leaders, said: O family of Abu Bakr! This is not your first blessing. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When we raised the camel on which I was riding, we found the necklace beneath it.
