Hadith 1284

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَدَ شَاةً مَيْتَةً أُعْطِيَتْهَا مَوْلاةٌ لَمْيْمُونَةَ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلا انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِجِلْدِهَا ؟ قَالُوا : إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ ! ، قَالَ : إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ أَكْلُهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) found a dead goat that had been given in charity to the slave woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Why do you not benefit from its skin? The people said: It is dead. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: It has been made unlawful to eat it.
