Hadith 1283

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الِمَنْذِرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلَمْ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ مُنْذُ حِينٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ شَاةً لَهُمْ مَاتَتْ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلا دَبَغْتُمْ إِهَابِهَا فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The noble wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), informed me of this: One of her goats died, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Why do you not tan its skin and benefit from it?
