Hadith 1275

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ فِطْرِ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " غَلَّقُوا أَبْوَابَكُمْ ، وَأَوْكُوا أَسْقِيَتَكُمْ ، وَخَمِّرُوا آنِيَتَكُمْ ، وَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لا يَفْتَحُ غَلَقًا ، وَلا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً ، وَلا يَكْشِفُ غِطَاءً ، وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ رُبَّمَا أَضْرَمَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ بَيْتَهُمْ ، وَكُفُّوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ عِنْدَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَى أَنْ تَذْهَبَ فَجْوَةُ الْعِشَاءِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us, "Close your doors, tie the mouths of your water-skins, cover your vessels, and extinguish your lamps, for indeed Satan does not open a closed door, nor untie a tied water-skin, nor uncover a covered vessel, and sometimes a mouse sets the house on fire along with its inhabitants. Keep your livestock and family members inside the house near sunset until the early part of the night has passed."
