Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: One of the noble wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ghusl (ritual bath) with water in a vessel, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to perform wudu (ablution) with that water. That woman said: O Messenger of Allah! I was in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Water does not become impure due to janabah. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) "(The words 'in a vessel' have only been narrated by the narrator named Abu Ahwas. He said: 'in a vessel,' and these words indicate that touching women who are mahram does not necessitate wudu.)"
