Hadith 119

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَعَلَّمُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَاقْتَنُوهُ ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَهُوَ أَشَدُّ تَفَصِّيًا مِنَ الْمَخَاضِ فِي الْعُقُلِ " .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Acquire knowledge of the Qur'an and safeguard it. By the One in Whose hand is my soul! It slips away from a person's mind faster than a she-camel slips away from its rope."
