Hadith 1157

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ ، وَإِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ ، فَقَالَ : " تَوَضَّأْ إِنْ شِئْتَ " . وَسُئِلَ عَنِ الصَّلاةِ فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ ، فَقَالَ : " صَلِّ إِنْ شِئْتَ " . وَسُئِلَ عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْ لُحُومِ الإِبِلِ ، فَقَالَ : " تَوَضَّأْ " . وَسُئِلَ عَنِ الصَّلاةِ فِي مَبَاتِ الإِبِلِ ، فَقَالَ : " لا تُصَلِّ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: It was asked from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about performing ablution after eating goat meat, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you wish, then perform ablution. He was asked about performing prayer in sheep enclosures, so he said: If you wish, then perform prayer there. He was asked about performing ablution after eating camel meat, so he said: You should perform ablution. He was asked about performing prayer in camel enclosures, so he said: Do not perform prayer at that place.
